On my way to work this morning, I had a few minutes to spare and a lot of energy to garner. Because of my limited remaining time in Manhattan, I decided to try a new place for my morning latte. Disclaimer: I am addicted to iced lattes. I know, I know. It dehydrates you, can get pricey and isn’t a totally salubrious breakfast. When I started out as a barista, I never drank any caffeine because I had never really tried it before (yes, this seems incongruous with my Cuban background). Then second semester came around and the little naïve caffeine-free girl had to grow up. This summer I wanted to monopolize on the countless coffee shops in NYC; today’s morning choice was Le Petite Café.
Name: Le Petit Café
Location: 156 Spring Street
Time: 9:50 am
Order: Iced latte with very low ice (very diva request, but vital because ice makes your drink disappear)
Price: $4.75 (cash only under $10)
Review: Pretty decent and not bitter. It was fairly sweet on its own, considering that I didn’t ask for syrup or add sweetener. It wasn’t the best latte I’ve had but it did the trick. It’s definitely overpriced for its size (16 oz.) and quality. Chances are I won’t return because I have sampled other shops that I really adore.
