One of my editors at Haute Living recommended Gimme! Coffee the other day, confessing that it was the best coffee in SoHo. Naturally, I was dying to try it out for myself. As I walked back to my apartment this rainy morning, I decided to try it out because Nolita is literally right behind me. The sound of Ne-Yo’s voice welcomed me as I walked in: a good sign.
Name: Gimme! Coffee
Location: 228 Mott Street
Time: 11:00 am
Order: My standard iced latte with very low ice
Price: $4.75 (once again paid cash, they don’t take Amex)
Review: Not too shabby. The barista poured a lot of milk to compensate for the paucity of ice, so it tasted relatively sweet. The espresso wasn’t bitter at all and the drink came out right away. Once again, slightly overpriced for its modest 16 oz. size, but the quality was up to par. Personally, I’d rather go to La Colombe or McNally Jackson– my two favorites.
