So this is love. Café Lalo is everything. I first heard about it from my best friend when she told me that it’s the cafe in You’ve Got Mail, one of my favorites. A few days before going, I watched the movie again and fell in love with the cafe. I was enamored by its whimsical décor, enchanting lights and decadent cakes on display. Little did I know that going to the actual place would change my life.
Before I praise this Upper West Side gem endlessly, let me set the scene for you. Friendly waitresses in cheery, retro ensembles greeted me as I walked in while old French songs serenaded me. The mood is extremely peaceful and romantic; my only moment of anxiety was during my cake selection. Seriously, how can you look at all of their cakes and pastries and pick just one? Miraculously, I made a decision. So here it goes. Oh, and you better believe I’m attaching a photo gallery and squeezing in another visit before I leave.

Review: OMG. This is hands-down my favorite cafe in New York City and one of the best pieces of cake I have ever savored. The cake was very well-sized, even though I scarfed it down in an instant. The texture was phenomenal, the taste was incredible and the moistness was perfect. Words can’t describe my adoration for this place. I crave this cake every day. No wonder Meg Ryan wanted to meet her e-lover here. I’m going to stop myself here before I write a saga on that chunk of chocolate. My best friend had the spinach quiche (delicious- I had a bite) and the German Chocolate Cake, which she loved.
