If you live in Georgetown, you’re privy to the most contentious, hot, polarizing debate of D.C. No, not elephant, donkey, or earthflower (come on, Green Party. Step it up. Pick an oak tree or something). It’s actually Georgetown Cupcake, Baked & Wired, or Sprinkles. Yup. Within ten short, cobblestone blocks lie three insanely popular and delicious cupcakeries. Each place has garnered its own loyal, faithful, sugar overdosed following that fights to the last crumb to defend it. I’ve sampled each place thoroughly and consider myself a true Sprinkleslian (Sprinkleslite, Sprinkleser?). With that said…
BAKED & WIRED IS STILL DELISH. It has this super duper quaint yet hip, edgy feel to it (I dare you to find a cuter study spot) and serves amazing delectable delights. Let me not get carried away. I’ve had the OMG bar, chocolate satin cupcake, strawberry cupcake, and unicorns & rainbows cupcake, but I will review my last cupcake there: the dirty chai tea latte cupcake. They call them “cakecups” there. Don’t ask.
Name: Baked & Wired
Location: 1052 Thomas Jefferson St NW (Washington, D.C.)
Time: 9 pm on Friday
Order: Dirty Chai Tea Latte “Cakecup”
Price: $3.65
Review: AH-MA-ZING. You definitely get your money’s worth, what with the massive swirled glob of delicious frosting and moist, seemingly never-ending cake. You certainly taste the spices and chai in both the cake and frosting, plus the ESPRESSO BEAN ON TOP. If you like chai and happiness, you definitely have to try this. Oh goodness, now I have to return next week when I’m on campus.
Rating: 4.5/5 (4.75/5 maybe?)
