In tandem with my last Pie Sisters post, I’m writing another review on their absurd delicacies. As you know, I adore this bakery with all of my heart and enjoy each experience there like it’s my first. This second review refers to an afternoon when a good friend of mine and I grabbed lunch at Sweetgreen and headed over to Pie Sisters for dessert.
Name: Pie Sisters
Location: 3423 M Street NW (Washington, D.C.)
Time: 2:30 pm on Friday
Order: Slice of the apple caramel crunch pie
Price: $5
Review: Holy moly. If I thought the pumpkin pie was amazing, then this is God’s gift to all of creation. Seriously, words can’t come close to my infatuation with that slice of pie. For those who will crave it after this review, please note that it’s a seasonal flavor. But no need to worry! Spring brings its own set of delicious pie fillings and fall will be here before we know it! So back to business: this pie is divine. It’s like a regular apple pie, with heightened flavor and texture and wonder. The pie was perfectly warm (pro tip: ask the server to warm it up in the oven) with a gooey, spiced, fresh apple filling and a crunchy caramel crumble on top. I’m gonna leave it at that before I write a few pages on this (very sizable and generous) portion of pie. The apple caramel crunch pie has officially usurped jumble berry’s position as my #1 favorite Pie Sisters creation.
