My mom has been raving about the “cutest little authentic French café” back home for the longest time so I knew I would try it out when I went back home for spring break. She bragged about the divine pastries and lovely espresso drinks so I figured I’d give it a shot because when do I ever say no to anything related to France?
Funny story, actually. It turns out that I had passed this cafe once before because I remember laughing at the sign under its name that read “The best French bakery in Broward County.” I joked to my uncle saying, “If you’re actually the best bakery you wouldn’t have to say it! Plus how many French bakeries are there in this county, anyway? How cheesy.” So the second we rolled into the shopping center and parked our car in front of the infamous banner, I died inside and gave karma some props.
Anyway, we went to start the day off right with French pastries and iced lattes at Eurobread & Café before heading out to Hollywood Beach one morning during spring break. The owners are from Toulouse, so I knew we were in good culinary hands.
Name: Eurobread & Café
Location: 6847 Stirling Road (Davie)
Time: 10 am on a Thursday
Order: Apple pastry and iced latte
Price: $6~
Review: C’est si bon! I’m definitely coming back… The apple turnover had a sweet glaze with plenty of sliced apples (although I prefer my mother’s Ina Garten recipe…). It was a pretty decent size and filled me up perfectly. The iced latte is barista-approved, with high-quality espresso, the right ice-to-liquid ratio and delicious milk. I could drink iced lattes like water, so it’s a good thing I only ordered one… I’m so glad my mom discovered this place!
