Although I’m forever loyal to my #1 Zara, my love for Madewell occupies a very special place in my heart. Their pieces are so minimalistic, versatile and classic—don’t forget their quality fabrics and manufacturing, either. Some of my favorite items—blouses, jewelry, dresses—are Madewell and they never fail to receive compliments. Although the original prices can be a bit steep, they’re known for their incredible sales. So if you keep your eyes on a specific piece and track it, chances are you can get it for much less than the original ticket.
Anyway, I live pretty close to a Madewell in Soho so I waited there to meet a friend for dinner. Little did I know that they were having their super summer sale. Naturally, I had to check out the sale section. Not doing so would have been a disservice to myself and my closet, right? Right.
I inspected every sale rack and almost purchased a floral bikini top but figured that I didn’t need it. Just as I was about to leave, I decided to check the shoe section because why not? I usually don’t look at Madewell’s shoes because they’re on the expensive side and I have plenty of shoes. But with the sale and all, I hoped that the prices would be a bit more merciful. I was right! I scanned the prices on the boxes before looking inside to see the model because I knew I could take an additional 40% off—it just keeps getting better. I found a pair of sandals with a cool sketch on the outside for $70. That means $35, right?! I tried them on and fell in love because I knew they would be perfect for my imminent semester in Europe. You can’t go wrong with a leather, black and white combo. Plus, their fun print can either blend with an outfit or create a mixed prints look, my latest obsession.
On my way to the register, a fellow fashionista asked me where I got them: a sure sign that I picked a winner. In pure serendipitous form, I used a 20% coupon I had and the shoes only came out to $33.59—tax and all! From an original price of $108, I’d say I made out like a bandit. Madewell’s site says it’s currently sold out, but I urge you to check your local Madewell to see if they have Danny sandals in stock!
