Sprinkles: my favorite cupcakes in Georgetown. Once I located a Manhattan Sprinkles on Yelp, I was so overcome with granulated sugar-ridden memories from D.C. that I walked right over. Delighted as per usual, I took my sweet (ha ha) time to choose a cupcake flavor. Eventually, I listened to the petite angel on my left shoulder and found a happy medium: a mini cupcake. After that laborious decision process, I finally chose strawberry cake with strawberry frosting for two reasons. Reason #1: I had my Two Little Red Hens chocolate on vanilla concoction a few hours before. Reason #2: Strawberry cake and frosting give me a daily serving of fruit, right?

Review: This is why Candace Nelson, founder and owner, is a judge on Food Network’s Cupcake Wars and boasts a multi-million dollar business. Her gourmet cupcakes are perfection. I have tried so many flavors there and have yet to encounter a negative experience. The strawberry cupcake in particular achieved the ideal level of sweet, with the right amount of strawberry taste. In general, Sprinkles cupcakes rock a moist, flavorful cake with thick and smooth frosting. I can’t wait to get back to Georgetown and pick up a Sprinkles cupcake every time I go on M Street.
