A lover of all things vegetarian, I finally stopped by Hampton Chutney Co for its potato dosas. I always saw it while shopping in SoHo or taking a different route to work but never gave it a try. So I finally did! Granted, it’s not a vegetarian place but does have a lot of meat-free options.
The second I walked in, I knew I was in a good place. The clean white walls blended perfectly together with the earthy hardwood floor and artsy menu. At first I was overwhelmed and had no idea what to order. Finally, I went with the classic and popular dosas. However, it was a very close call between that and the avocado dosas.

Review: WOW! First things first, my jaw dropped when I saw the dosas come out along with my name. I saw people pick up long wrapped sub-looking orders, but had no idea that I would be one of those people. Seriously, those dosas are like two Subway foot longs. So I brought it into the office and shared with my editors. We all loved the dosas, although I found them slightly spicy. Because of its inordinate size, I took the other half home and enjoyed it for a second time during lunch the next day. The potatoes were good the next day, but the wrap was tough. Personally, I didn’t enjoy the mango chutney that much; I found it a bit grainy. The cookie was wonderful with the right hint of spices and amount of raisins.
