During spring break, my mom, best friend and I went on a little getaway to The Keys. Surprisingly enough, I had never been and was super excited to check it out. Although I much prefer the pace, scenery and entertainment of South Florida, I enjoyed The Keys and took advantage of the incredible weather. But then again, when isn’t Florida weather divine…
As part of a special segment about dining in The Florida Keys, I will review the famed Alonzo’s Oyster Bar! Complete with fresh seafood and spectacular views, this restaurant on the water is a local favorite.
Name: Alonzo’s Oyster Bar
Location: 700 Front St (Key West, FL)
Time: 2 pm on a Tuesday
Order: Smoked Fish Dip
Price: $7.50
Review: I’m a major fan of all dips and spreads, especially good fish dips. However, I despise capers (along with cucumbers, cauliflower, cantaloupe and honeydew, among other foods). So unfortunately, this fish dip wasn’t exactly my cup of tea. If you’re a capers fan, this is the spread for you! Objectively speaking, the fish was very fresh and the crackers were delicious. Maybe next time I should ask the waiter if capers are included….
