Eurobread & Café: A Review

April 18, 2014 by anc49

My mom has been raving about the “cutest little authentic French café” back home for the longest time so I knew I would try it out when I went back home for spring break. She bragged about the divine pastries and lovely espresso drinks so I figured I’d give it a shot because when do I ever say no to anything related to France? Funny story, actually. It turns out that I had passed this cafe once before because I […]

‘The Devil Wears Prada’: A Book Review

April 17, 2014 by anc49

Photo via Maybe because my dream is to one day be an editor for a fashion magazine or maybe because I worship Meryl Streep (who doesn’t?), I adore The Devil Wears Prada. As masochistic as it sounds, I want to be Andy Sachs. I want to suffer at the hands of Miranda Priestly. I want to run around Manhattan fetching Starbucks. So years ago when I found out that the Anne Hathaway film is based on a book, I immediately put it on […]

Blue Heaven: A Review

April 17, 2014 by anc49

The Keys dining review edition is back in the three part series! I’ve told you all about Alonzo’s Oyster Bar and now I’ll fill you in on Blue Heaven, a local favorite and famed eatery that’s been featured on Diners, Drive-ins and Dives and The Best Thing I Ever Ate. My mom and I always try to sample places from either show whenever we can so this was a real treat. While Blue Heaven has incredible seafood options, I wasn’t really craving fish […]

BITE Beauty: The Organic Lipstick That’s Revolutionizing Makeup

April 17, 2014 by anc49

Photo via Behold: BITE Beauty, a treasure trove of phenomenal lipsticks with 100% natural ingredients (that you could technically eat…). Although I’m a lifelong Chanel makeup addict, I branch out from time to time with lipstick because it’s my favorite makeup product to experiment with! I do like Sephora, NARS, Buxom and Makeup Forever for lipstick but after Chanel, BITE is my favorite by a landslide. I first discovered BITE when I was perusing the makeup aisles at Sephora back home. […]

Sarabeth’s in The Keys: A Review

April 16, 2014 by anc49

My love for Sarabeth’s is no secret; in fact, it’s almost an obsession. I’ve been to the Central Park South and Tribeca locations (still have to cross off Park Avenue South, the Upper East Side and Upper West Side), so I was thrilled when I found out there was a Sarabeth’s in Key West. In fact, my mom and I kind of planned the spring break trip around it. That being said, I will now delve into the finale of […]

‘Volver’: A Movie Review

April 16, 2014 by anc49

Photo via Disclaimer: This is not a review full of spoilers. Here I will only offer my thoughts and recommend it based on certain criteria. You must watch the movie for yourself and enjoy it in all of its pure, unfiltered, brand new glory. Last fall I took a class called “Hispanic Cinema” for my Spanish minor and LOVED it. The class surveyed Spanish cinema from the beginning of Franco’s dictatorship to now, all in terms of the political, social and economic trajectory […]

Ladies, It’s Time to Own It: What I Learned at a Summit for Women in Leadership

April 16, 2014 by anc49

This past Saturday, on April 12th, I attended OWN IT, a women’s leadership summit coordinated by Georgetown University Women in Leadership (GUWIL). The completely student-run, all-day event promoted female leadership and highlighted the need to educate our generation of women leaders through panel discussions, breakout sessions and office hours. If that doesn’t sound cool enough, keep in mind that guest speakers included top women from media, policy, business and STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics). Crazy impressive women like Maria […]

Quelques Chansons Françaises: The Ultimate French Playlist

April 15, 2014 by anc49

Photo via Bonjour tout le monde! In case you haven’t noticed, I’m a lover of all things French. So it’s no surprise that I’m a French minor and studying abroad in Strasbourg this fall. When I was growing up I heard Édith Piaf and Charles Aznavour on a regular basis, which is probably why I’m so drawn to the French culture and language. I still listen to both French icons, but have since expanded my musical taste. In my free […]
